New Year Resolution to a Healthy Smile

It’s 2017 and we want to make sure you’re doing everything you can to have a happier and healthier smile this year. Here’s a few tips to follow this year:

Eat fruits and vegetables

Poor nutrition could lead to common oral disorders; for example, periodontal (gum) disease. Not only do fruits and vegetables help fight bacteria and inflammation, but certain ones like apples, carrots, and celery help clean teeth and freshen breath!

Quit smoking or using other tobacco products

Smoking and tobacco products are bad for you health, but also to your mouth. They cause tooth discoloration, cavities, loss of teeth, gum recession, gum disease and throat, lung and oral cancers.

Limit your alcohol intake

Excessively drinking can increase gum recession, also known as periodontal pocketing.

Brush at least twice a day and floss at least once a day

Brushing your teeth can prevent tooth decay and gum disease, which is caused from a buildup of plaque on your teeth. Flossing is the only way to remove plaque from between teeth and below gumline.

See your dentist for a regular check up

By seeing your dentist regularly, you can prevent any dental health problems before they cause discomfort or require more expensive treatment.
